Bar Association for Commerce, Finance and Industry (“BACFI”)
Notification pursuant to Article 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation 2016/679/EU) as imported into the Law of England and Wales by s.22 Data Protection Act 2018 in respect of your registration as a Member of the Association.
The Data Controller is the currently appointed Secretary of BACFI whose correspondence address is PO Box 4352, Edlesborough, Dunstable, Beds LU6 9EF. No data protection officer has been appointed and such appointment is not required.
BACFI processed your personal data provided by you in respect of your application to join BACFI and annually on renewal of your membership.
BACFI processed your data in order to facilitate your membership of the association, attendance at events (including on-line events) and in order communicate with you in relation to the timing of events, BACFI related news including news of professional interest to members, any changes to meeting and/or event arrangements, any change to availability where you were wait-listed (due to limited numbers being available) for an event and in respect of any follow up following post-meeting or post-event or post-webinar questions and/or the speaker making available materials of interest in relation to the meeting/event/webinar topic including but not limited to his or her slides or written notes together with informing you of subsequent events. We do so in order to perform a contract to which you are a party, being our provision of the service of membership of BACFI to you.
We only receive your name, any affiliation and contact details that you provided to us together with payment information as appropriate. The personal data that you provided is not passed to any third party organisation by us save for processing your payment of membership fees (if required) or as may be required by law.
BACFI has its data storage facilities wholly located within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (“the UK”) and does not transfer that data outside of the UK for any purpose.
Your data will be stored by BACFI for a period not exceeding two (2) years following the termination of your membership. That period is determined by the BACFI data protection policy and is a blanket time limit governed by the need to carry out a data purging process no less frequently than once per year.
As a result of this processing you have certain rights. You may seek from BACFI a copy of the data which we hold on you and to seek rectification of any errors or erasure of the data (noting that erasure of your data will terminate your membership without recourse to refund). You may ask us to restrict processing of that data and you may under certain circumstances object to us processing your data. You have the right to obtain a copy of your data in machine readable format to be sent to a third party. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the UK that supervisory authority is the Information Commissioner whose web site is at http://ico.org.uk. As set out above your data was obtained from you directly. We did not obtain any information about you from any publicly available sources. We do not perform any processing on your data which could be construed as automated decision making or profiling.
