Gaynor is General Counsel at CLS, leading a diverse and multi-jurisdictional team of in-house lawyers. CLS is a systemically important financial market infrastructure critical to the orderly functioning of the global FX market ─ one of the largest and most liquid financial markets in the world. Gaynor joined CLS in November 2013, became General Counsel in January 2017 and is based in London. As General Counsel, Gaynor oversees the Legal division globally, identifying and managing legal issues and providing advice on all aspects of the legal framework and the laws and regulations affecting CLS. Gaynor was Called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1994. Following completion of Pupillage in a commercial regulatory practice, she began her career at a major US investment bank. Since then Gaynor has held positions within the legal departments of a number of European major investment banks in London. Immediately prior to joining CLS, Gaynor was a Director and Associate General Counsel at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London, with primary responsibility for legal support of the rates and FX businesses. Gaynor was elected Master of the Bench of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in 2018. She is also a member of the Bank of England JSC Legal Sub-Committee, Chair of the Bar Association for Commerce, Finance & Industry (BACFI) and an ex-officio member of the Bar Council and the Bar Council’s General Management Committee. |
