The Denning Lecture took place at 6 pm on Monday, 25 November 2013 at the Old Hall in Lincoln’s Inn with over 100 members and their guests in attendance. This year’s speaker was Lord Justice Moses, who gave a deeply impressive lecture on “The Reputation of the Law”. He explained how fundamental trust was between the public and lawyers, and the government and lawyers. He also provided (surely a first for a Court of Appeal Judge!) an extremely impressive array of accompanying slides of great works of art to assist in illustrating his points. Following on from the Denning Lecture, the Christmas reception was held down below in the atmospheric Crypt with the wine, sandwiches and the (just about acceptable with 1 month to go!) obligatory seasonal mince pies. Jolly and animated discussions seemed to be enjoyed by all!
